Randy worked for the Nebraska Department of Transportation for nearly 40 years.
Between 1977 and 2015, Randy held several positions with the Department, including: Director, Deputy Director, Planning and Project Development Engineer, State Traffic Engineer, Assistant Roadway Design Engineer, and Transportation Planning and Roadway Design. In 1987, Randy graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
As a member of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials, Randy co-authored the nationally recognized “Green Book.” In 2004, as a State Traffic Engineer, Randy received the Director’s Award for Superior Performance. In 2007, Governor Dave Heineman appointed Randy to the Nebraska Board of Public Roads Classification and Standards. Randy served as the Department’s chief executive officer from 2012 to 2015, directing the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of the Department to further the objectives established by the Governor and the Nebraska Legislature.
Currently, Randy works as an Associate Professor of Practice in the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Department of Civil Engineering. Since 2007, Randy has served on seven different boards and presently serves on the Nebraska Board of Engineers and Architects and the Lincoln Citizens’ Transportation Coalition board.
